Practical Nursing

Program Description

A high-school diploma or equivalency is the only prerequisite to apply for NRTC's Practical Nursing Program. The program consists of a 10-month course of study that prepares the students to perform nursing care for non-complex clients. The program consists of a combination of theory classes, clinical experiences, and simulations of real-life events provided in a safe environment. A national certification examination is required at the end of the program to attain licensure. Ideal nursing student qualities include the desire to help and serve others. An LPN performs a variety of tasks which include bedside care, IV initiation, and medication administration to name a few. Common work environments include hospitals, long-term care, assisted living, home health, school nurse, and physician clinics.
